When I started looking into wheatgrass I was looking for a way to get more energy, and lose weight…

I had tried all kinds of diets and supplements but I I kept gaining weight no matter what…

When you feel tired all the time, toss & turn all night, and can’t lose weight then you’re open to trying just about anything…

This is what I looked like in 2012

I didn’t like the way I looked… I was embarrassed to take my shirt off… I felt like a whale when I took my shirt off…

Nothing worked that would help me lose weight until I started looking into my diet…

One of the first improvements I made to my diet was to start drinking green juice (which is how I heard about wheatgrass.)

I started looking into wheatgrass as a way to nourish my body and address nutrient deficiencies, but then I came across something that completely changed everything for me…

Yes, wheatgrass was an amazing addition to my diet, but when I understood why it helped me, it literally changed the direction of my life… here’s why…

I used to be so focused on “fixing” my thyroid thinking that was the key to getting more energy and losing weight, but then I found that what produces energy for you is not your thyroid… it’s your gut flora!

This was such a breakthrough because I’d never heard of this before and it opened up an entire new topic to research that actually helped me get more energy…

I started to understand that one of the things I was getting from wheatgrass were minerals…

More specifically, green juice from wheatgrass and other leafy greens are high in magnesium, which is a key mineral for energy production…

I started sharing with others that something as simple as adding minerals to their diet would help with energy and others started telling me they too felt more energy!

Although wheatgrass did help, what really helps to get more energy is minerals…

One of the reasons why minerals are so important is because they help with digestion…

Without minerals your body can’t digest food and convert it into energy…

Without proper digestion you end up with gas, bloating or constipation…

When your body can digest food, it is able to get energy from the food you eat…

… and no, this doesn’t meant that you’re going to be drinking wheatgrass juice everyday to get minerals… you just need to be properly hydrated to get more energy and lose weight…

I don’t actually drink wheatgrass juice often… instead I add minerals to my drinking water…

Also, minerals don’t work in isolation… meaning that you can’t just take minerals and expect things to change…

If you just have low energy, then sure, maybe minerals is all you need…

… but if you’re anything like me, I had a hard time falling and staying asleep…

I had brain fog and anxiety…

… and my hair started falling off!

One thing I found was that my vitamin D levels were low…

So my body wasn’t absorbing nutrients (a big reason why my hair started falling off)…

Part of this was because my gut was toxic…

I didn’t realize that the food I was eating wasn’t good for me…

I used to go out and eat with friends and didn’t think much about the food I ate thinking that if other people ate it, then it should be fine…

… but I would get gas, bloating and constipation…

Felt miserable…

The food I was eating was wrecking my gut flora…

It made it almost impossible to lose weight…

What was happening was that my body was having a hard time burning fat as a source of energy…

It’s like my body was unable to burn fat at all, so I would just gain weight…

Once I started changing my diet and improving my gut health, I was able to get my body to burn fat and started losing weight… You can read about going keto and Hashimoto’s success stories here

Now it’s so much easier to stay lean and toned…

This is me 8 years after I started researching how to get more energy, sleep better and lose weight…

Better than wheatgrass is to learn how to nourish your body so you can get more energy and weight almost takes care of itself when you learn what foods to eat and what not to eat…

It has taken me almost 10 years to figure all of this stuff out, but I finally put together a 3 step process anyone can follow to get more energy and lose weight…

This 3 step process starts out with hydration… getting minerals into your body…

Wheatgrass is a good source, but if you have gas bloating or constipation, then you may not be able to digest and get the nutrients out of wheatgrass…

That’s why I used minerals in liquid form…

When you combine hydration with improving your sleep, you’ll notice your skin will start to glow…

Such great info on wheatgrass and hypothyroidism! Not to mention all the other great benefits from wheatgrass! I think I need to get started on some šŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing! ā™„

I can’t hack the taste of wheatgrass, it actually makes me want to vomit. Can I take it in the form of a capsule, and then how many should I take?

      • Hip Hip Jorge

        I don’t know of a capsule form although I’m sure it’s fine…Ā

Usually when I do Wheatgrass it’s mixed in with other greens so I don’t really taste it…Ā

Fresh pressed is going to be better… But I can’t always do fresh pressed.Ā

During the week when I have to go to work, I don’t have time to juice so I use a green powder…Ā

I think juicing in general is more powerful than just Wheatgrass by itself…Ā

Here’s a video where I talk about juicing

I have just started drinking wheatgrass from organic powder form I hope to see an improvement.

What improvements have you seen from using it? Has it lowered your thyroid blood results? Do you still take thyroid meds?

Wheatgrass helped me address nutrient deficiencies…
I consider it to be a great tool for detox as well…

Hi hello, do you take any thyroid medicine with your diet. Iā€™m asking because I would like to get off mine soon.

      • Hip Hip Jorge

        I don’t… I use food šŸ™‚

Thank you for your very useful article. I recently start taking wheatgrass. The first time I drink it with only water… and I run to the toilet 1 min after to vomit ! The taste is awful… But mix with almond milk, cinnamon and vanilla essence it’s drinkable šŸ™‚

I also read that guava leaves have a positive impact on thyroid issues (in addition to many other benefits! I let you read more about that if you are interested šŸ™‚ )
