Many people ask if doing a ketogenic diet will help them lose weight…

For many people “YES”, a ketogenic diet will help them lose weight, but there’s a caveat…

One of the reasons why people feel tired all the time and can’t lose weight no matter what is because they lose the ability to burn fat as a source of energy…

If you try a ketogenic diet and you feel drained, then chances are that your digestive system needs work… you can’t produce energy if you can’t digest food…

If you start a ketogenic diet and your energy levels are good, then you’ll see fat start melting away almost immediately…

This is why if your energy levels are low and get lower when you go keto, then a keto diet may be counterproductive initially…

This is not all bad news… It can serve as a tool to determine how well your digestive system is doing… your starting point doesn’t determine your future… just because you can’t lose weight now doesn’t mean that has to be the case forever…

You can train your body to burn fat as a source of energy…

How do you know if you need to retrain your body to burn fat as a source of energy?

If you have gas bloating or constipation, then it’s likely that you’ll need to work on improving your digestion and that is the key to getting more energy and losing weight…

How to start losing weight with a keto diet

People do things that cause them to feel tired and gain weight not being aware of what is it that they are doing wrong… once you identify what makes you feel that way, then the solution becomes simple… do the opposite…

Most people think that a healthy diet is eating lean meats and veggies…

People have been told lies that makes them do the opposite of what they should do…

Have you ever been told that salt is bad for you?

Or that fat makes you fat?

Or that you need to watch your sugar and calories?

If you try looking up what is the best diet for someone with Hashimoto’s you’ll usually find some generic stuff like eat fruits, veggies, lean meats and avoid processed foods…

What’s the problem with that advice?

Nothing in that diet will help you with hormone production…

What do you need for hormone production?

Vitamin D, saturated fat and cholesterol…

This is hard to believe for many because they read or are told the opposite almost everywhere…

The most common advice that people actually follow is to eat low fat and do cardio, which usually leaves people with their energy levels drained and discouraged…

Most people are told to avoid saturated fat and cholesterol, which is why so many people think that eating chicken & turkey is better than red meat… or worse, they start to think that going vegan is the way to go to avoid saturated fat and cholesterol…

… but then they start to wonder why their hormone production is low…

I was no different…

This was my journey…

I used to eat lean meats and veggies thinking that was a healthy diet…

I was depressed when I gained 40 lbs in a month and I couldn’t lose weight no matter what…

It was a struggle to get my clothes to fit it made me feel sad…

I had to buy new jeans a size bigger and within a couple of weeks those were fitting tight…

I tried going vegan and while I did detox and felt a little better, I started to feel weaker and my hormone production went down even more…

That’s how I found that I needed to do the opposite…

Frankly, it was hard to back to start eating meat after trying a raw vegan diet…

It was hard to incorporate fats into my diet after thinking that lean meats like chicken and turkey were the “healthier” options… but it was the best decision I made…

Making those changes to my diet is how I got my energy back and was able to lose weight…

juicing for hypothyroidism and weight loss

This is when I started to share what was working for me…

There’s so much confusion online and I wanted to pave the way for anyone serious about losing weight…

Eating more healthy fats was definitely the answer to many of my hormone issues…

The challenge was to get my body to digest fat because I had a hard time digesting fat when I started… this is the main reason why I don’t recommend people start out with a keto diet right away before addressing any digestive issues…

Most people that can’t lose weight and have low energy levels don’t have a thyroid problem as much as they have a fat digestion problem…

They won’t tell you that because once you get your body to digest fat better, you start losing weight and your hormone production improves…

Why being a “low fat” warrior makes it harder to lose weight

Many people think that eating fat will make them fat so they go on a low fat diet…

This is what some diet programs like weight watchers will push…

Little do people know that eating a low fat diet makes it more likely that you eat bad fats because most foods that are labeled as low fat or that you may not even think of as a fatty food will usually have a hidden bad fat…

What’s this hidden bad fat wrecking havoc on your digestive system?

Vegetable & seed oils…

Canola oil, corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, etc….

These are hard to digest fats… these oils will clog up your liver and push toxins into your gallbladder which affects your ability to digest fat…

Look through your pantry… just about everything in a box or can will have some sort of vegetable oil listed as an ingredient…

Even some cereals, which you think of as a carbs & sugar have vegetable oil in them…

If you have these oils in your diet, then you may not be able to do a keto diet and losing weight will be much harder…

Minerals and vitamin D are key for energy production, but there’s a lot more to be able to get more energy and lose weight…

Everything that you eat and drink affects the type of gut flora that you grow… the health of your gut depends on your daily habits…

Taking supplements doesn’t fix bad eating habits…

The reason why I point this out is because if you eat bad food, then what happens is that you grow bad bacteria in your gut…

When I say that you grow bad bacteria, I’m talking about wild yeast (like candida), mold, parasites, etc.

These are the little critters that drain your energy and make you gain weight…

They make your body toxic and that’s what attacks your body… When bad bacteria wake up they get hungry just like any other living organism… bacteria don’t have teeth, so instead they release enzymes to digest and eat… enzymes are proteins…

When your body is exposed to digestive enzymes from bad bacteria, it triggers an immune response… The term autoimmune is not exactly a good definition of what’s going on because it makes you think that it’s your body attacking itself when in reality it’s bad bacteria in your gut that’s attacking the body (trying to eat it)…

In a way, yes, it is your own bad bacteria doing this, but bad bacteria doesn’t belong in your body…

When you understand this simple little concept you too will unlock the key to more energy and weight loss…

Why?

Because toxins are the main culprit that drain your energy, give you brain fog and makes you gain weight non stop…

The main source of toxins for people with Hashimoto’s is bad bacteria in their gut…

When you get rid of bad bacteria and focus on growing healthy probiotics in your gut, then everything changes…

To grow healthy probiotics in your gut, you can’t just take a probiotic supplement…

Fermented foods and beverages are good because they provide the probiotics you need, but if you don’t have the right environment in your gut then taking probiotics is almost pointless… at least that’s not where you start…

That’s why it’s very important that you focus first on creating an environment in your gut so that probiotics can grow and thrive…

What makes a good gut environment for probiotics to grow?

#1 Hydration

#2 Vitamin D

#3 Nourishment

If you’ve tried everything thyroid supplement you’ve been told about and haven’t seen results then I truly hope you look into these 3 things because they have been creating success stories here…

They may sound almost too simple, but please note that there’s a lot of nuances so don’t just skim through them and think that you know what I mean when it comes to hydration, vitamin D and nourishment…

When I say hydration, I don’t mean to say “drink more water”…

Hydration requires your drinking water to meet a certain criteria… your water needs to be clean and it needs to be mineralized… that’s a good starting point… there are other things you can do to make it better, but that’s a good start…

Without proper hydration, you can’t boost your vitamin D levels…

To boost your vitamin D levels so that your body can improve sleep and starts burning fat then you have to get what I call real vitamin D…

Most people take what I call fake vitamin D… I call it fake because it’s simply not made the way nature makes vitamin D… you will know if you are taking fake vitamin D if you have to “dose” by measuring IU’s… most people will say they take 3,000 to 5,000 IU’s… some people take way more than that…

Real vitamin D doesn’t require dosing because when you take real vitamin D, you can take as much as you can afford and not worry about overdosing…

When you take fake vitamin D, you can get vitamin D toxicity… again, it’s because it’s not natural and your body doesn’t know what to do with that…

These are the small little details that will make a difference if you try to go keto because it’s what will help you digest fat and burn fat as a source of energy…

The last step is proper nourishment…

Most people are under the impression that healthy eating means you have to eat your vegetables… while vegetables have some nutrients, they don’t provide all the nutrients your body needs in the most bioavailable form…

If you have digestive issues, then plant based food may actually be hard for your body to digest and get nutrients from…

The best place to get nutrients from is grass fed beef organs…

This may come as a surprise because we live in a culture that demonizes meats and promotes a plant based diet…

I have personally experimented by going raw vegan and there are benefits to doing so… but an animal based diet is what allowed me to become a success story…

I personally don’t think that either a vegan diet or animal based diet is good or bad… Instead, I think of these diets as tools that you can use to give your body what it needs and also to help your body reach a balance…

That’s really what matters most…

Everyone is unique and your microbiome is unique to you… that means that what works for others, may not work for you…

You need to find what works for you… food is a tool and you have to learn how to use food as a tool to get more energy and lose weight…

Optimizing your microbiome is the best skill you will learn to get more energy and lose weight…

Going keto is a skill and that’s why not everyone can make it work… some people go keto and they turn their life around… others go keto and their energy levels plummet…

That doesn’t mean that keto doesn’t work… it means that you have lost the ability to metabolize fat and you must re-train your body do burn fat…

That’s where hydration, vitamin D and nourishment come into the picture… it’s what we teach here at hypothyroidism success story…
