The reason I started this blog is because I was eating all the wrong foods…
The result was that I was tired all the time, had brain fog, my hair started falling off and I kept gaining weight no matter what…
I felt miserable…
Everything changed when I was told I was going to have to take hormones for the rest of my life and something inside of me just refused to accept that as my faith…
So I started to dig in to figure out how does the body produce hormones?

This was such a breakthrough because for the longest time I was under the impression that if could figure out how to boost my thyroid then I would get more energy…

Once I learned that trying to fix my thyroid wasn’t the way to go, and started to focus on my gut flora instead everything changed…
I got my energy back and was able to finally lose weight…

This may sound almost too simple, but I personally didn’t drink enough water… I was dehydrated, which is why I was dealing with gas, bloating and constipation…

I used to feel tired all day, but when my head hit the pillow I would have a hard time falling asleep… I would toss and turn all night…
I’d wake up and walk like a zombie…
Turns out that my hormone production was low…
I wasn’t just struggling with low thyroid hormone… I had low melatonin as well, the sleeping hormone… and serotonin & dopamine, the feel good, happy hormones… which made me feel anxious and depressed…
To produce hormones you need to start with vitamin D, which is technically a pro-hormone… all other hormones are made from vitamin D and cholesterol…
This was interesting because vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin which means you need to eat healthy fats to help raise vitamin D… this was contrary to what I believed…
I used to think that eating lean meats and veggies was a healthy diet…
Then I started to understand that lean meats isn’t good for hormone production… you need to include more fats… this scared me at first because I was getting fat and eating fat was counter intuitive…
… but I was at my whit’s end and willing to give it a try…
When I started eating more healthy fats and working on my vitamin D I started to notice my hormone production improve and it changed the way I thought about healthy eating…
