Imagine your brain trying to call your thyroid using a special phone TSH… The brain detects that there’s not enough thyroid hormone T4/T3 circulating so it starts calling the thyroid more often so it can “work harder…”

In other words, high TSH means low thyroid hormone production… when your thyroid starts producing more thyroid hormone, your brain will detect that there’s more thyroid hormone T4/T3 circulating in your body so it won’t call your thyroid as often, thus lowering TSH…

To lower TSH naturally you have to help your body produce thyroid hormones naturally…

How to Increase Thyroid Hormone Naturally

Low hormone production comes with a laundry list of things… most notably, inflammation, weight gain, gas, bloating, constipation, brain fog and I could list a dozen more, but you get the point…

Because of all the issues, people are often told to cut out gluten, dairy and sugar…

This is quite problematic because you are cutting out food groups that have the raw materials your body needs to produce hormones… it’s as if your body was on fire and blowing smoke and the advice you get is to open the window to let the smoke out rather than deal with the fire itself…

Here’s what I mean by that…

Dairy can be an inflammatory food… cutting out dairy is like opening up a window to let the smoke out… it doesn’t put the fire out… putting the fire out would mean that you work on improving your digestion because poor digestion is the main reason why dairy becomes an inflammatory food…

This is important to understand if you want to reduce your TSH levels naturally… because dairy is one of the most fertile foods, meaning it’s a food that helps with hormone production most…

How so?

It contains the raw materials that your body needs to produce hormones…

  • Saturated fat
  • Cholesterol
  • Vitamin D
  • and other nutrients

Quick check in… how do you feel about saturated fat and cholesterol?

The reason I ask is because for the longest time, I thought these were bad for you!!

I knew nothing about cholesterol other than grandma having to take pills for high cholesterol and somehow I associated it with cholesterol = bad…

… but then I learned that cholesterol is like a hormone template for the body… when you feed your body dietary cholesterol it takes that and makes just about every hormone your body needs including melatonin (the sleeping hormone), serotonin, and dopamine (the feel good happy hormones)…

This clicked instantly because when you have low thyroid hormone production it’s common to also have poor sleep and feel anxious or depressed for no reason…

This is when I started looking back to my lifestyle and realized I had so many “wrong ideas” about what it meant to eat healthy… I thought I was eating healthy because I was eating organic lean meats and veggies… chicken and broccoli… not realizing that chicken has little saturated fat… but I was terrified of fat thinking I was going to get fat if I ate any…

The opposite is true… when you don’t eat saturated fat, your fat digestion starts to deteriorate, and you start gaining weight… when you eat saturated fat, not only are you helping your body improve fat digestion and burn fat, but you are also giving it the raw material it needs for hormone production…

How to Improve TSH Levels Naturally

Eating the right foods is the first step… then you have to ensure that you can digest the foods that help your body produce hormones… a third step that’s commonly missed has to do with making sure that your body is properly converting the thyroid hormone T4 into the active form T3…

Notice how we started this blog post by saying “The brain detects that there’s not enough thyroid hormone T4/T3 circulating…”

Your thyroid gland produces primarily thyroid hormone T4 and little T3… but the liver takes that thyroid hormone T4 and converts it to the active form T3…

This is a huge insight because so many people are going around thinking that their thyroid doesn’t work, and no one is telling them that their thyroid could very well be functioning and it’s the liver that needs attention…

The liver needs nutrients like selenium, copper, zinc, magnesium and others to function properly… this is why so many thyroid support supplements have those ingredients… the problem with supplements is that the nutrients they contain are not in the same form as nutrients are when you get them from food…

Living off pills (taking thyroid support supplements) is not natural…

Getting your nutrients from food is natural…

Guess what food has most of the nutrients commonly found in thyroid support supplements?

Egg yolks…

The more you look into this, the more you start to see how backwards most of the information doctors give you is completely wrong… there wouldn’t be a need for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy if people simply focused on making better food choices…
