Getting lab work done is a powerful way to know what is going on and what you need to focus on…
… but I no longer rely on lab numbers for a variety of reasons.
Many people I talked to shared similar experiences where they started out with their thyroid levels not being good… they then did everything they were instructed to do and reached the moment they thought they were waiting for when their thyroid levels were finally where they needed to be…
This is a bittersweet moment, when the doctor tries to high five you and congratulate you on getting your thyroid levels to a good range… except, you don’t feel any better.
… and many people then experience gaslighting. They are then told that their lab numbers look good so you can’t be feeling bad, and if you are, you are crazy and they try to write you a prescription for an anti-depressant.
If this is you, then please know that:
a) you are not crazy
b) you are not alone
c) welcome to the club…
… been there, done that…
How to get energy even if you have Hashimoto’s
I started researching this topic because I did everything I was told to do…
I cut out gluten, went dairy-free, sugar-free… I got the supplements, iron, selenium, ashwagandha… a full cupboard full of pills…
Nothing worked…
I discovered what worked because I was looking into why I was always gassy, bloated and constipated… and it turns out the reason was due to yeast candida overgrowth.
This was fascinating to read because I was a beer brewer and I’d been studying brewer’s yeast for years and I knew little about yeast candida. The only thing I knew about it was that it was a wild yeast that would spoil a batch of beer…
Brewer’s yeast is a probiotic and knowing that gave me a sudden epiphany about how to get more energy… because probiotics are what digest food and convert food energy into a form of energy that the body can use…
Probiotics also make vitamins, key nutrients and hormones for you…
Getting gas was happening because wild yeast and other bad bacteria were eating the food I was eating rather than probiotics… so I started to wonder, why probiotics weren’t doing their job and the answer was lack of minerals…
Why minerals are needed to get more energy
As a beer brewer, my job was to take the starch and protein in barley grains and digest them into sugar and amino acids. In order to digest, I needed to add water with minerals to grains…
I couldn’t believe that I had been brewing beer for years and never once thought of everything it had taught me about digestion and probiotics… that’s when my journey began and started sharing this information on this blog…
I started by adding minerals to my water…
1 Quart of clean water
2 mL ionic magnesium
4 mL of SOLE salt
What I noticed more than anything was my digestion improved… I was no longer constipated… my gas and bloating were greatly reduced and I started to feel energy rather than lethargy after eating…
So when people ask me how to avoid the 3pm thyroid crash, my answer is “It starts with minerals”…
Minerals alone won’t fix your thyroid, but without them, you won’t get energy…
Think of a double AA battery… it stores energy, right?
… but how do you use the energy stored in the battery?
You use a conductive mineral like copper to use the energy…
That’s what minerals do in your body… you need conductive minerals so that you can use the energy that your cells store in your body… they are called cells because they are indeed battery cells!
When you start to add minerals to your drinking water, you too will start to notice an improvement in your digestion…

Digestion is the precursor to getting more energy… because digestion is what probiotics do to transfer food energy into energy that your body can use…

How to fight hypothyroidism
I hope you are as excited as I was when I first learned about this and realized that I could actually do something about this…
Getting energy was just the beginning of my journey… once I understood that the key to feeling better was to improve the health of the probiotics in my gut, it was game on!
I started researching why I had low hormone production… later on I learned that low hormone production is also part of the reason why I felt fatigued all the time…
I got my next set of labs, which included testing for my vitamin D levels… interestingly enough, my doctor did not care to test my vitamin D. They started to question what I was reading online and were hesitant to test me, but I insisted.
My vitamin D levels were low… they came in at 22 ng/dL…. (they are supposed to be at 55 ng/dL or higher)…
… and I’ve since learned that the vitamin D3 supplements they give you will end up in a similar scenario where your vitamin D levels will look good on paper, but you won’t see any improvement from getting your levels to the appropriate range. You’ll know to identify these supplements if they give you a dose, typically around 3,000 to 5,000 IU’s.
You don’t need anything that measures IU’s to raise your vitamin D levels…
In the case of vitamin D… the biggest thing you feel when your levels are low is poor sleep… you struggle to fall and/or stay asleep… brain fog is another one…
I found a different way to raise my vitamin D levels naturally without their supplements… and I no longer rely on labs to tell me how I’m doing, because I go by how I feel… I now get deep restorative sleep and I wake up with a clear mind, ready to take on day…
These are just the first two steps of my journey which I call the hydration challenge and better sleep challenge and every time you complete a challenge you will notice a significant boost of energy…
I share this because my goal is to get more success stories I can share on this blog to inspire others to take control of their health and stop relying on labs and doctors that can’t seem to help…
