Don’t waste your money on thyroid supplements… they don’t work and many can have side effects. Instead, I’m going to share with you what to do to get more energy.

You’ve seen these supplements for thyroid fatigue like:

  • Thyroid energy
  • Thyroid alive
  • Thyroid essentials
  • Thyroid aid
  • Thyroid care
  • Thyroid maintenance
  • … and the list goes on and on…

What do these supplements all have in common? (aside from the fact that they don’t work)

They all have similar ingredients like iodine, selenium, copper, magnesium, ashwagandha, etc.

They are trying to give you pills for minerals and nutrients that you should be getting from food.

Why you need minerals to get more energy and the best source to get them.

The cells of your body are called cells because they are like battery cells. Battery cells store energy, but how do you use the energy stored in a cell?

You use a wire made of a conductive mineral like copper, don’t you?

That’s what minerals do for you. Minerals are conductive and they allow you to use the energy that your body stores in the cells of your body. If you feel fatigued all the time, it’s not necessarily just a lack of energy. You could be demineralized and that’s why your body struggles to use the energy stored in the cells of your body.

When people talk about quality of food declining, one of the things they are looking at is the lack of minerals in our modern day food. Good news is that minerals are found in abundance in salt.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? – Matthew 5:13

Salt has been the best source of minerals since the beginning of time. Recent years, there has been an attack on salt, which started in 1924 when they introduced iodized salt, a salt without minerals. Salt without minerals is toxic, and bad, so how come is iodized salt the most popular salt you see all around?

… and if iodized salt is what you use, can you make the connection that you are demineralized because of its use?

In the 1920’s they were looking at people growing thyroid nodules (goiters) and saying that it was because of a lack of iodine. Most people with hypothyroidism are not low on iodine, but this is where that stems from.

The introduction of iodized salt got its rise by chopping down real salt. Traditional sea salt has over 84+ trace minerals that your body needs to be conductive and get energy from its cells.

Some of the more popular brands of sea salt are also under attack because the salt is being harvested in areas of the ocean that are now filled with waste and toxins so you have to watch out for microplastics.

Contamination aside, there are still ways to get sea salt from clean sources, but you have to do your due diligence.

In addition to sea salt, pink Himalayan salt is another great source of minerals. Same warning applies when it comes to sourcing it from a clean source. Do not buy ground up or fine pink Himalayan salt, which are very common at grocery stores.

Instead opt for large crystals of pink Himalayan salt because it’s pure and clean. You can make SOLE salt and add to your drinking water for improved hydration.

There are other salts that have high specific mineral content like salt from the Great Salt Lake in Utah, which is very high in magnesium. You can find this salt sold as a SOLE salt (liquid) as ionic magnesium.

The more mineralized your body is, the more conductive it is. The more conductive your body is, the more energy you will be able to get from the cells of your body.

How to get more energy with hypothyroidism

Minerals do more than just make you conductive. Minerals allow probiotics to digest food. When probiotics digest food, they make vitamins and produce hormones.

Many people struggle with their weight because their body is no longer able to digest food properly, especially fats. When the body can’t digest fats, it begins to store fat.

There are various signs of this happening:

Gas, bloating, constipation, inability to fall or stay asleep, brain fog…

Do you ever get a thyroid crash at 3pm?

Or feel wide awake at 3am?

That’s a circadian rhythm out of sync and it usually stems from low vitamin D.

Sleep is how your body recharges its batteries… you can mineralize your body all you want, but if the cells of your body are not getting charged, then you will continue feeling fatigued all the time…

To improve your sleep, you need to boost your vitamin D levels.

Now if you think it’s crazy that they made a toxic product like iodized salt sound good, then brace yourself because vitamin D is an even more controversial topic. I don’t care to fight this, I just cared about finding what worked to get my energy back… and I wanted to do this in a natural way.

When it comes to vitamin D, there is lab made vitamin D and natural made vitamin D.

Lab made vitamin D is easily identified. It’s usually vitamin D3 in the form of cholecalciferol. They basically take sheep’s wool and irradiated it to get that isolated compound. You’ll know it’s lab made when they have to give you a dose, which is usually 3,000 to 5,000 IUs.

Avoid lab made vitamin D at all costs (hint: it’s what doctors and other health professionals give you)

Like I mentioned earlier, probiotics made vitamins for you. Probiotics make vitamins through the process of digestion and fermentation. You shouldn’t have to supplement vitamins if your gut flora were to be healthy. If you are deficient in any vitamin, then that’s a clear indication that your gut flora is unhealthy.

If that’s the case, then the best place to get the vitamins your body needs is from fermented foods and beverages. For vitamin D, you’ll want to look for fermented cod liver oil or fermented skate liver oil. Mix that with rich butter oil and you’ll be sleeping like a rock in a few days.

That’s the best way to measure vitamin D by the way. The more vivid your dreams, the deeper and restorative your sleep is, the better your vitamin D levels are.

By mineralizing your body and improving your vitamin D, you are also improving your ability to digest food. When you digest food better, you get nutrients from food that supplement companies are trying to sell you. You don’t need supplements, you need to mineralize your body and get your probiotics to make vitamins and hormones for you.

When you are able to make vitamins and hormones, your body is metabolizing fat better so you’ll burn fat naturally. When you are mineralized, your body feels nourished and hunger cravings go away. That’s why getting more energy makes it easier to stay lean and toned.
