I used to wonder if it was just me or if others felt the same…

I would go hang out with friends and enjoy my time with them… but on the ride back home I’d get gas and feel bloated…

Gas, bloating and constipation became a common theme in my life… I started gaining weight no matter what I tried…

I was eating healthy and going to the gym, but I gained 40 lbs in about a month… it was a struggle to fit in my clothes… I didn’t feel good in my body… I felt sad…

I started looking into what was causing the gas & bloating… and I found that the reason why I was gaining weight non stop was all tied together into one thing… gut health…

If you have poor gut health then gas, bloating, constipation and weight issues will be a normal thing…

If you have good gut health, then good energy levels, good sleep and staying lean & toned become a normal thing…

How does poor gut health affect bloating?

What is gut health?

Gut health is the type and health of the flora that lives in your gut… you should have primarily probiotics living in your gut… probiotics are friendly yeast & bacteria that digest food for you, turn it into vitamins & nutrients and keep your gut clean…

Probiotics thrive in a clean environment… if your gut becomes toxic, then the environment in your gut will start to allow bad gut flora to grow… bad gut flora would be things like wild yeast (candida), h pylori, mold, parasites, etc.

The reason why bad gut flora is considered bad is because they don’t make nutrients out of the food you eat… instead they steal nutrients and produce toxins… they are the ones that give you gas and make you feel bloated…

The problem with bad gut flora is that as they begin to produce toxins, it starts to create a toxic environment in your gut which then allows for more bad gut flora to grow… this becomes a vicious cycle that needs to be addressed because there are so many things that are impacted by your gut flora…

Hormone production depends on your gut flora…

A lot of people think that low thyroid hormone is just low thyroid function, but that’s not always the case…

To produce thyroid hormone you need amino acids like Tyrosine… Thyroid hormone T4 is made up of Tyrosine and iodine… To get tyrosine you need to be able to digest protein… proteins when digested are broken down into amino acids… if you can’t digest protein into amino acids, then your body may not get the raw materials it needs to produce hormones…

This is why your gut flora has a huge impact on hormone production… not just thyroid hormone, but all hormones… this is why it makes sense that if you have low hormone production, you likely have poor gut health… and one way to know if you have poor gut health is if you get gas, bloating or constipation…

How does poor gut health affect weight loss?

The toxins that bad gut flora put out when they digest food attack your body… they attack your brain and glands…

This is one reason why brain fog is also very common when you continuously deal with gas & bloating…

To protect itself, the body takes toxins and stores them in fat cells… your body doesn’t make new fat cells… instead, fat cells expand to fit in more toxins… this is why as you gain weight, it becomes harder to lose weight because your body becomes more and more toxic… the more toxic your body the lower your energy levels, the worst your sleep and brain fog get…

How to improve gut health to get rid of bloating

The environment in your gut is what determines what type of gut flora grows…

One of the biggest factors that determines what can grow is hydration…

If you are dehydrated, you are more likely to grow wild yeast…

Hydration is more than just drinking more water… just because you drink water it doesn’t mean that your body will absorb and retain water… water needs to get into the cells of your body in order to get hydrated…

For this to happen, you need to make sure that your drinking water is clean and that it has minerals…

Hydration is so simple, but no one seems to pay attention to it…

Most people think they are doing everything right… they are spending hundreds on labs, supplements like iron, selenium, and others, but they never think of hydration because water is almost too simple of a solution for such a complex problem…

Once you understand that good gut health depends on good hydration, things change and your focus shifts…

Just as important as hydration is proper nourishment…

You don’t need dozens of supplements… you need to eat foods that nourish your body without the need for supplements… if you find yourself needing supplements, you are not eating the right foods…

Foods that lack nutrients is another way to allow bad gut flora to grow… probiotics thrive when you eat nourishing food… bad gut flora thrive when you eat food that doesn’t have nutrients…

This is why you should never buy food based on price… most people are so used to buying food that’s on sale… this doesn’t mean that you have to buy expensive food either… what you save on cheap food you will end up spending on thyroid support supplements later… when you add it up you’ll find that it’s actually more expensive to buy cheap food when you include supplements, and you also end up with gas & bloating…

When you start to source out good nourishing food, you’ll find that you are less hungry, you save on supplements and most importantly, you feel really good… you don’t get hungry which makes it easier to lose weight… you don’t get gas or bloating… and your energy levels will be so good you’ll feel young again…

The quality of food you eat is more important than what you eat… a lot of people ask me about a keto diet to lose weight with hypothyroidism, and while it can work there are other things to know…

#1 if you buy low quality fats, then a keto diet won’t work…

#2 can you digest fat?

Poor gut health, gas, bloating & constipation are all digestive issues… they are all signs that your body isn’t digesting food properly… eating good healthy fats is the way to go, but there’s a caveat… can you digest fat?

Improving gut health is about improving digestion…
