So I was wondering…

“What the #@! is going on with me…”

I’m always tired…

With brain fog…

Never Have Energy…

Can’t Lose Weight…

I just keep gaining weight for no reason…

Hair Falling Off

Depression…

… and then it came to me…

I understood why eating a salad was hard for me to digest…

It was because of…

This is when my Transformation first begun in 2012…

I started researching health and vitality…

I started using my brewing knowledge to fine tune my diet and learned how to…

Get my energy back…

Leaned down…

I was more alert…

Focused…

No longer forgetful…

Or feeling like I was going to faint when standing up…

I could actually fall asleep…

… and get deep restful sleep…

Recover and actually have energy throughout the day…

Then June 6, 2019…

Just a couple months ago as I write this…

I was looking like this… (I’m the one on the far right…)

Belly started growing again…

Man boobs…

I had stopped taking care of my gut health…

Not only was I gaining weight again…

My digestive system wasn’t doing too good…

Started feeling like I was aging too fast…

… and I decided it was time to finish what I had started years ago…

I began a 90 day Transformation journey…

Here’s day One…

As I started this journey I decided to write a book on health and vitality…

Here’s the introduction…

[Chapter 1]

I called it…

“Beer Diet Project”

LOL

Not because it involves drinking beer…

… but because I used beer brewing knowledge to fine tune my diet to… 

… Get More Energy…

Be more Alert…

Focused…

… and improve my vitality to live an active lifestyle…

Do more things like

Hike…

Paddleboard…

Snowboard…

Mountain Bike…

… and enjoy life more 🙂

Step One…

Introduction…

It’s not a beer belly?… Holy 💩💩… It’s like wild yeast and bad bacteria starting to take over a weak fermenting batch of beer!… 

I need to ‘Brew Stronger’…

That was more or less the conversation going on inside my head when I had my big epiphany moment…

That may not mean anything to you right now because that phrase contains “Homebrew Language”… 

… but throughout this book I’ll be translating that phrase into “Normal People Language”…

Here we go…

I remember when I first started learning how to brew beer, I spoiled a batch of beer…

I learned a lot from that mistake that is now helping me improve my gut health and vitality…

Funny story…

I was looking for a way to overcome my “leaky gut”…

I noticed that the things that were helping me improve my vitality were exactly the same things I would do when brewing beer…

I would pay attention to the quality of water…

The minerals I needed…

pH

Temperature

And making sure my brewing yeast and bacteria were strong and “active”…

So there I was… 

Researching health looking for a way to overcome my “leaky gut”…

… and it came to me…

“It’s like a spoiled batch of beer… Gross…” 

How do I fix it?

Umm…

… as a home brewer I would say…

You don’t… 

You dump the brew… (known to make brewers cry…)

You clean and sanitize your equipment…

… and start from scratch…

Fixing a spolied batch of beer takes too much time, and effort…

“Ain’t nobody got time for that”

… but considering I had debilitating fatigue…

I gained like thirty four pounds in less than a month…

Had horrible brainfog…

Hair was falling off…

… I needed to find a way to fix it…

… and so my journey began…

“Beer Diet Project” was born…

I was watching a video by Alejandro Junger, author of the book clean

When he starts talking about how our bodies are like plants around minute 6:25…

when the leaves start to become yellow (get holes, and falling off)… the problem is not with the leaf… it’s with the root…

I translated that to…

If my hair starts falling off, the problem is not with the hair… 

It’s with the root… 

The gut…

I picked up a copy of the book “The Root Cause” by Izabella Wentz

I started learning more about gut health…

From experts who were teaching from experience and most importantly had the results I was looking for…

This book is my journey…

My findings…

What I did…

Here we go…

Step 1

Food

Paying attention to the foods I ate moved me one step closer towards more vitality…

I had to understand…

Bad Food VS Good Food

Vitamin D is a key ingredient to produce the hormones that give you “energy”…

Boosting my vitamin D strengthened my gut flora…

… and immune system…

It helped me produce hormones like…

Growth Hormone

Testosterone

Adrenaline

Thyroid Hormone

… and others…

Remember… I had debilitating fatigue…

Meaning the thought alone of doing dishes was enough exertion to exhaust me…

I had low vitamin D…

Low testosterone…

… and low energy…

Then I read the book “The 4-Hour Body” by Tim Ferriss

On page 258 he talks about how to boost testosterone…

2 things he pointed out…

#1 Testosterone is derived from cholesterol…

#2 He recommended taking Fermented Cod Liver Oil & Concentrated Butter Oil until vitamin D levels were back to normal…

So I got me a bottle of Fermented Cod Liver Oil and started taking in the probiotics that fermented the cod liver oil to help me boost my vitamin D

“It’s like re-using yeast!” 

(“Beer Diet Lesson #2”)

Eating probiotic fermented foods or drinking probiotic fermented beverages was the best way for me to get the probiotics I needed in my gut…

And…

(“Beer Diet Lesson #3)

Vitamins are produced by probiotic yeast and bacteria…

That’s why,  as I started to take fermented cod liver oil, I noticed I was able to digest the foods I needed to boost my vitamin D…

I started producing more testosterone…

And started feeling more energy… and getting better sleep…

… but I still had an issue…

I was still not digesting other foods properly…

Like protein…

This is where I had to dive deeper into the root cause…

Remember… It’s like a “spoiled batch of beer”

Nobody cares to learn how to fix a spoiled batch of beer… 

More emphasis is put on the front end… making sure everything is clean, sanitized, and the environment is perfect for the good brewing yeast and bacteria only…

I understood (Beer Diet Lesson #4)

My gut needs to be cleaned, sanitized and I must maintain an environment to promote the growth of healthy probiotics and reduce colonies of unwanted yeast, mold, fungus, or parasite…

I had yeast overgrowth…

… a wild yeast…

Not a good one…

… and other bad bacteria…

So step two in my journey was to “clean and sanitize” my equipment (my digestive tract)…

I needed to get rid of the bad bacteria, yeast, mold, fungus or parasite trying to take over my gut…

This is where my brewing knowledge started to guide me… giving me lessons that moved me forward…

I’ll dive deeper into food in later chapters and you’ll understand why I used diets like..

Ketogenic…

Paleo (especially autoimmune paleo)

Traditional Cooking…

… and others…

To get more energy…

… but I actually don’t really follow any specific diet… 

I clearly don’t eat the same diet I used to

I call it my “Beer Diet Project”… it’s evolving… 

It’s my life’s work to improve upon this…

My goal is to give you my best at demonstrating how I do it…

Breaking it down as much as I can in simple terms…

This book is written as my personal health journey…

It’s not meant to tell you what to do…

It’s literally my health journal…

Which may be used as a guide… It’s meant to show you my journey and how I overcame hurdle after hurdle…
