… but have you ever tried taking a pill and found that it doesn’t fix everything. When you see the big picture and laundry list of symptoms you are dealing with, you start scratching your head wondering how can a single pill solve it all?

It can’t!

That’s why you must break it down and go after each thing you are dealing with and this will actually help you feel good again and get your life back.

Conventional wisdom says you have these symptoms because you are hypothyroid. What we have found is the opposite. It’s a combination of these symptoms that put you under the category of hypothyroidism.

Everyone is different. Some people with hypothyroidism have a hard time losing weight, while others have a hard time gaining weight. Some people with hypothyroidism have high cholesterol, some have high blood sugar.

That’s why the format I’m going to use below is going to start with “Universal” hypothyroidism symptoms you must conquer that applies to 99%… from there on out, it’s a choose your own adventure type of journey.

Dry, Flaky Skin

The opposite of dry is wet, or moist. If your skin is dry, it means that it’s lacking water. There are many people who don’t like to drink water or simply don’t make it a point to drink water.

Dry skin is like a check engine light telling you the body is dehydrated. Hydration is one of the most important topics that you will see throughout this entire list of symptoms, which is why hydration is the very first step we follow here at hypothyroidism success story.

A pill will not solve your hydration problem. That’s why you won’t see this improve by taking a pill. You have to hydrate so that your skin can glow and look radiant.

Gas, Bloating and Constipation

Imagine trying to flush a toilet without water. Pretty much impossible. The amount of water you need depends on what you are trying to flush down right?

That’s what happens to people who don’t drink enough water. Your intestines need water in order to push food through and out of you. If you don’t drink enough water, then food will get stuck in your intestines. Lack of water will turn your poop into rock hard “rabbit balls”. The more dehydrated you are the harder it will be to flush out and the more painful.

When food gets stuck in your intestines, it can begin to ferment. Gas is a byproduct of fermentation. If food ferments and creates gas, then you will feel bloated as your belly expands because of the gas being produced.

A pill isn’t going to solve this, because the body needs water to push food through and keep it from getting stuck. Hydration is how you keep yourself from getting constipated.

Vitamin D deficiency

Vitamin D is like a hormone template that the body uses to make just about every hormone. If you are low in vitamin D, you will be low in many hormones including thyroid hormone, melatonin (the sleeping hormone), serotonin & dopamine (the feel good, happy hormones), and others.

That’s why people with low vitamin D tend to have a hard time falling or staying asleep. It’s why they tend to experience things like depression and anxiety. Mood swings, irritability and other feelings from hormonal imbalances often stem from vitamin D deficiency.

If your sleep quality is poor, then you need to address vitamin D deficiency.

Horrible Brain Fog

If you have poor sleep quality, then you’ve probably experienced waking up and walking like a zombie with horrible brain fog. Twelve hours of sleep feels like you’ve only slept one. You’re barely able to open your eyes and stay awake.

This wouldn’t happen if you’d gotten deep restorative sleep. It doesn’t matter if you were in bed for ten hours if you tossed and turned all night. It’s better to get six hours of sleep as long as you are able to enter REM sleep and experience vivid dreams. You can’t address brain fog unless you address sleep.

Sleep is a vitamin D issue.

Dizzy Spells

Have you ever had to walk around the house grabbing on to walls to keep yourself from falling?

Dizziness is a different version of brain fog. It’s a sign that your body is not only sleep deprived but also malnourished. Sleep helps, but you also need to address nutrient deficiencies. The body needs over 82+ minerals. Some of the more common nutrient deficiencies are iron, copper, selenium, magnesium, iodine, and others. That’s why you’ll see these nutrients commonly used in thyroid support supplements.

At hypothyroidism success story, we believe eating the right foods is a better way to get these nutrients rather than popping pills.

Thinning Hair or Hair Falling Out

Imagine a tree that’s lush, pleasing to the eye and next to it another tree that’s dry and wilting. Based on the description, it starts to become obvious that the tree that’s lush is hydrated. Not only is it hydrated, but it is also nourished.

When your body lacks nutrients and it’s dehydrated, then the result will be a “wilting” body with hair that thins or falls out.

Often times, hair falling out doesn’t happen because you don’t eat the right foods. It usually happens when you can’t digest the foods you eat. If you get to the point where you have to cut out dairy, sugar, gluten or other foods from your diet, then this is what you will start to experience.

Hydration, vitamin D and proper nourishment is how you keep your hair from falling out.

Extreme Fatigue

Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Energy is merely transferred from one source to another. Food is supposed to have energy. We are supposed to eat food and get energy from eating food.

You can’t get energy from food if you are not digesting it properly. You can’t digest food if you are dehydrated. When the body can digest food, it will take nutrients and produce hormones that give you energy. This process happens when you sleep. If you can’t get good quality sleep, then your body won’t make the hormones you need for energy.

If this makes sense so far, you can see why I’ve ordered these symptoms in a way that if you tip the first one, the second becomes easier. Each domino that you tip will carry momentum, and you will soon start to feel like your old self.

Forgetfulness

Have you ever walked into a room and forget why you were there to begin with? Or maybe you’re talking to someone and can’t seem to think of the words to say something?

Just like the body needs nutrients from food to get physical energy, your brain needs nutrients from food for proper functioning. Feeding the physical body is different than feeding the brain. The brain is mostly fat and cholesterol. Many people with hypothyroidism avoid fat and cholesterol because they are under the impression that those foods are bad.

If you experience forgetfulness, then that’s a sign that your brain is malnourished, and it needs saturated fat and cholesterol. This is where many people struggle because this goes against what they’ve believed to be true. This is where the difference is between people who become a success story and those that continue living with hypothyroidism.

Trust me, I know about all the research that says that the brain feeds primarily on glucose. I know from experience what happens when you deprive yourself of foods that contain saturated fats and cholesterol. I’ve tried their way, and I’ve tried this way. The choice will ultimately be yours.

Painful Periods (fertility issues)

Ummm… Hi, I’m a man, so I don’t have to deal with periods. However, I did struggle with fertility issues. I’ll spell it out in case you don’t get it, but erectile dysfunction is what men with hypothyroidism tend to experience in this area.

The only reason why I know about periods is because many of our students pointed it out. They couldn’t help but share with me all about how their “woman issues” had gotten better. Without me really asking, they would be very descriptive in telling me how heavy their periods used to be, and they were impressed at how they were now pain-free and normal.

Later on, it made sense why women with heavy menstruation were often deficient in iron. They would lose too much blood and lower their iron levels. Nutrient deficiencies aren’t always a matter of supplementing more. Sometimes it requires you to stop the bleeding.

When you get your body well hydrated, with good vitamin D levels and nourish it properly, you will notice your fertility improve. Men will wake up like a teenager with a “pitch tent”, while women will experience pain-free periods.

Sugar Cravings and Salt Cravings

The body craves food when it’s malnourished. Sugar cravings usually come from yeast candida overgrowth. Salt cravings usually come from other bad bacteria including parasites. Cravings is a sign of gut flora imbalance which usually happens when you get to the leaky gut stage.

The nutrients the body craves the most are minerals. Minerals are what you are looking for most in things like the water you drink and food that you eat. No diet works if you eat food without minerals. The supplements you are told you need are minerals that you should be getting from food. There are foods like grass fed beef liver or blue green algae that contain pretty much every single nutrient that your body needs. These two foods can replace an entire cabinet full of supplements.

Everything covered so far can easily be addressed by giving your body the minerals it needs, getting properly hydrated, and addressing vitamin D deficiency.

I call these the “universal” symptoms everyone must conquer because there is not a single person that doesn’t benefit from proper hydration, improved vitamin D levels and proper nourishment.

Many times, by getting a handle on these symptoms, you will usually conquer others without even trying. Gaining weight and losing weight are much harder when you are dehydrated and malnourished.

How to Get Natural Energy without Restrictive Diets or Supplements

When I say I used to feel exhausted, I’m talking about bone-deep fatigue…

It wasn’t me being distant, dramatic or lazy…

It wasn’t me being just tired or run down…

It was the kind of exhaustion that lives deep in your bones…

It’s hard to explain what a flare was like without sounding dramatic…

I’d wake up feeling like I’d been hit by a Mack truck, even if all I did the day before was exist.

When this happened, my body felt sore and beaten up, like it had been through something physical and brutal…

My muscles and joints ached constantly and deep like everything was inflamed and heavy…

Some days I was just surviving quietly… it took more strength than anyone realized….

The fatigue was crippling…

Not “I could use a nap” tired, but the kind where standing up required me to grab onto a wall…

I felt weak, dizzy, and slowed down, as if I was walking through mud…

Things that were normally manageable suddenly felt overwhelming… Simple tasks required planning…

I would sit in my kitchen without moving… just enough energy to feel unmotivated…

I would feel low and sad for no reason like a flattening of everything.

The flares would happen even when I did everything right…

I’d cut out gluten, dairy, sugar…

I’d take a whole stack of supplements (selenium, iodine, iron, B vitamins, etc…)

… yet my entire system felt like it was under siege… like my body was pulling the fire alarm because of steam from the kettle, and refused to shut it off.

Everything suddenly got louder, harder, and heavier at once.

I was doing everything I could just to get through the day, but nothing worked until I figured out the cells of my body were not getting the nutrients they needed…

It didn’t matter what diet I tried, what supplements I took, or what detox I did…

Something was blocking the nutrients from getting into the cells of my body and that’s when I discovered cellular-level nutrition…

I put together a program Energy Jumpstart, where I share my 3-Step Framework to rebuild your energy.
