Understanding Thyroid Hormone…

… and how to “stop the thyroid madness”!!

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”16″ font_font=”Cabin”]When I first started researching hypothyroidism most of the online literature and information (more like MIS-information) out there focuses on the thyroid lacking iodine, TSH levels and supplements for thyroid function…

While those may play a role, I found that in most cases there’s a bigger problem no one is talking about.

I started meeting people online with hypothyroidism and I noticed a peculiar pattern… most people had either gut issues (digestive issues), low Vitamin D, high or low cortisol, or high cholesterol… or all four!

All the pieces of the puzzle started falling into place… here’s why…

I was going through a program called hypothyroidism revolution which was the first time I’d heard about the correlation between high cholesterol and hypothyroidism.

Here’s a screenshot from pg 128…[/text_block]

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”16″ font_font=”Cabin”]It also showed me that thyroid hormone is part of the same system that makes testosterone and estrogen… which involved the hypothalamus telling the pituitary gland to release hormones…

Below is a screenshot from pg 13 of the Hypothyroidism Revolution Manual and notice how thyroid hormone is also produced by a process where the hypothalamus tells the pituitary gland to release hormones…[/text_block]

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”16″ font_font=”Cabin”]Remember from last module… and based on the image above, notice how thyroid hormone goes through the same production process as estrogen and testosterone:

Women produce Estrogen (& Testosterone):
Hypothalamus > Pituitary > Ovaries

Men produce Testosterone (& Estrogen):
Hypothalamus > Pituitary > Testes

Thyroid hormones in both men and women:
Hypothalamus > Pituitary > Thyroid

… I started to understand that our hormone system has a feedback loop for ALL hormones and it can enter a negative feedback loop which happens when you have a hormone imbalance… this imbalance can happen from various hormones, especially from:

  1. Too much estrogen
  2. Too much testosterone
  3. Too much thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
  4. Too much insulin
  5. Too much leptin
  6. Too much cortisol
  7. Too much growth hormone

… all of these are addressed following step #1 of hormone jumpstart which is to do a green juice fast…

Next step is to make sure your body is making hormones & Vitamin D out of cholesterol… this is were we start to do our “Hormone Jumpstart”[/text_block]
