Hypothyroidism is in many cases an autoimmune disease and 80% of Your Immune System Is In Your Gut

… that’s why fixing my gut became my MAIN FOCUS…

I dragged myself out of the couch, sat on my desk and opened up a browser with YouTube… I started watching a video by Dr Alexander Junger, author of the book Clean.

He points out a couple of things that stood out to me.

#1 a clean gut equals a healthy gut… meaning good bacteria live in a clean environment while bad bacteria love a toxic environment.

#2 when the leaves of a tree get holes or turn brown, the problem is not at the leaf, it’s at the root of the tree… hence the expression “the root cause”. Similarly, when your hair starts thinning, breaking, or falling off, the problem is not at the hair, it’s at the root… The root system in our bodies is our gut.

So finding the “Gut Cause” is like finding the “Root Cause”…

It dawned on me that my gut health is where I need to focus my attention… not my thyroid.

I realized that if I fix my gut, most of my “thyroid issues” will take care of themselves…

This is where my success story begins…

I decided I needed to heal my gut.

This is where Step #1 of my hormone jumpstart method comes in. I think of it as a reset, a reboot… a start over phase where you literally wipe the slate clean.

I accomplished this through juice fasting…

Here’s how it worked…

I’d make a green and red juice using a Kuvings juicer.

My recipe had a couple variations, but the base recipe for the red juice was:

1 organic red apple
2 organic carrots
1/4-1/2 organic beet root

The green juice recipe was

1 organic cucumber
1 organic green apple
2 organic stalks of celery
1/2 cup to 1 cup of organic parsley
1 organic lemon
1″ organic ginger root

To this recipe I’d add or mix in different greens like spinach, kale, etc.

… but here’s the important part.

I juice fasted to RESET MY HORMONES…

I found out that after 4-7 days of juice fasting a reset happens. Here’s what my experience was..

First off… I’d never done anything like this so the idea of juice fasting was weird and daunting since I’d never really skipped a meal let alone plan going a full day without solid food…

Frankly, I didn’t think I would get through 1 day of juice fasting, but I was so fatigued, I was gaining weight, I had horrible brain fog and I desperately wanted my life back so I said “what the hell” and just went for it…

Day one I was a bit hungry, but not bad… I quickly realized I could easily go one day.

Day two was about the same as day one and I gained confidence that I could go another day.

Day three was my goal and I went through it just fine. On day four, I didn’t have plans to continue, but I was starting to feel better so I did another day of juice fasting. When I woke up the next day all of the sudden I felt a surge of energy like I hadn’t felt before… the reset happened.

Fasting gave my digestive system a break and allowed it to heal itself. This was the first step towards fixing my cortisol issues which was to improve my digestive system.

Step #1 was complete… step #2 was to jumpstart my hormone production which I’ll be sharing over the next couple modules…

When I say I used to feel exhausted, I’m talking about bone-deep fatigue…

It wasn’t me being distant, dramatic or lazy…

It wasn’t me being just tired or run down…

It was the kind of exhaustion that lives deep in your bones…

It’s hard to explain what a flare was like without sounding dramatic…

I’d wake up feeling like I’d been hit by a Mack truck, even if all I did the day before was exist.

When this happened, my body felt sore and beaten up, like it had been through something physical and brutal…

My muscles and joints ached constantly and deep like everything was inflamed and heavy…

Some days I was just surviving quietly… it took more strength than anyone realized….

The fatigue was crippling… 

Not “I could use a nap” tired, but the kind where standing up required me to grab onto a wall…

I felt weak, dizzy, and slowed down, as if I was walking through mud…

Things that were normally manageable suddenly felt overwhelming… Simple tasks required planning…

I would sit in my kitchen without moving… just enough energy to feel unmotivated…

I would feel low and sad for no reason like a flattening of everything. 

The flares would happen even when I did everything right…

I’d cut out gluten, dairy, sugar…

I’d take a whole stack of supplements (selenium, iodine, iron, B vitamins, etc…) 

… yet my entire system felt like it was under siege… like my body was pulling the fire alarm because of steam from the kettle, and refused to shut it off. 

Everything suddenly got louder, harder, and heavier at once. 

I was doing everything I could just to get through the day, but nothing worked until I figured out the cells of my body were not getting the nutrients they needed…

It didn’t matter what diet I tried, what supplements I took, or what detox I did… 

Something was blocking the nutrients from getting into the cells of my body and that’s when I discovered cellular-level nutrition…
