After years of feeling like garbage, I learned how I could help my body feel so much better. I was over the moon when I finally figured this out... I remember thinking "is this what normal people feel like all the time?"

Often times, people are told to cut out foods like gluten, dairy and sugar...
Here's the biggest problem with following this type of advice...
Things like dairy, sugar or gluten, are not the problem... the real problem is poor digestion...
How many people do you know who eat gluten all the time and are just fine?
It's because they have good digestion... and good digestion is key for thyroid hormone production because your body needs to be able to break down (digest) protein into amino acids to make hormones...
Think about it... the "T" in thyroid hormone T4 stands for Tyrosine, which is an amino acid. If you can't digest protein, then your body won't be able to get enough Tyrosine to make thyroid hormones...
The same happens with other hormones, which is why it's common for people with low thyroid hormone to be low in other hormones like melatonin (the sleeping hormone), serotonin and dopamine (the feel-good happy hormones), etc...
Once you see that, it starts making more sense why low thyroid function is often associated with poor sleep, anxiety and depression... or mood swings and feeling miserable to a point where you don't recognize your body...
Cutting out gluten, helps inflammation, but it doesn't help protein digestion so it doesn't help you get Tyrosine for thyroid hormone production... so while you may reduce inflammation, you end up feeling exhausted long term...
That's why improving your digestion will help you improve thyroid function more so than cutting out entire food groups...
Doctors hardly ever talk about this...
Your choices then become: take a pill or feel miserable...
You don't know any better, so you go with the former. You might feel good for a week or so, but eventually you end up back to where you started... or worse... feeling like complete and utter crap all the time...
Maybe your labs say you feel fine, but you know you don't feel fine and no doctor seems to listen to you... you are now at the end of your rope looking for an alternative...
Good news!
Getting more energy has less to do with your thyroid and more to do with the environment in your gut... your digestion...

Back in 2012, I was tired all the time...
I'm talking extreme fatigue to the point where I was falling asleep sitting up at my desk at work...
My mind was foggy... and everything I ate seemed to turn to fat immediately...
I had a laundry list of weird symptoms nobody could explain... and no matter what I tried, nothing seemed to get better.
I could not keep functioning like that. I was exhausted - both literally and emotionally. It was starting to affect my work and personal life. So, I did what most people do.
I went the traditional route: doctor visits, prescriptions, pep talks about getting more sleep and managing stress.
But even with the pills, the exhaustion never lifted, and I just kept gaining weight.
So, I turned to alternative medicine like naturopaths and functional medicine.
I spent thousands of dollars on lab tests, stocked my cabinets with every supplement under the sun, and yes, I followed restrictive diets that cut out gluten, dairy, sugar... you name it.
Can you imagine? After all of that... all the effort, all the money, all the hope... I was still tired. Still bloated. Still dragging myself through every single day.
I felt completely defeated.
But there was one symptom that wouldn’t leave me alone:
gas and bloating after eating just about anything.
When I started researching what was causing that, I stumbled across a word that stopped me cold: Candida. A wild yeast that, when overgrown, wreaks havoc inside your gut... causing gas, bloating, and fatigue.
Candida. The name rang a bell. Not from a doctor's office... but from my past life... when I was brewing beer.
In brewing, yeast candida is the thing you fear.
